Life Happens is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving financial literacy and raising awareness about life insurance through real stories and educational resources.

Life Happens educate consumers, they don´t sell or endorse any particular product or company.

As Lead Designer, I partnered with Life Happens to redesign their B2B portal, making it more personal, accessible, and action-oriented. The objective was to simplify workflows for partner organizations and enable them to deliver meaningful financial education more effectively.

1. Problem

The existing portal had become outdated and no longer supported the evolving needs of partner organizations. The user experience was fragmented, key workflows were inefficient, and several critical capabilities were missing.

Manual processes slowed down daily operations, and limited integration with social platforms made it difficult for partners to distribute educational content effectively.

Key challenges included:

  • Outdated UI and inefficient UX flows

  • Difficult access to and management of educational resources

  • No seamless social media integration for content distribution

  • Lack of automation for campaign planning and execution

The platform needed to refocus on core workflows, introduce missing functionality, and enable partners to easily access, manage, and distribute resources at scale.

2. Design Process

In collaboration with product, marketing, and leadership, I defined a strategy to reimagine the partner portal. The focus was to deeply understand partners’ day-to-day workflows and identify opportunities to simplify processes and automate repetitive tasks.

The process combined qualitative and quantitative insights:

  • User interviews and feedback sessions

  • Workshops and stakeholder alignment sessions

  • Heuristic evaluation and competitive analysis

  • Progressive refinement from wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes

  • Ongoing user testing to validate usability and clarity

By grounding decisions in user insights and aligning them with business objectives, we reshaped the platform around essential workflows. The solution was designed to support both power users managing large campaigns and occasional users seeking simplicity and clarity.

A refined design system ensured consistency, accessibility, and long-term scalability.

3. Solution & Results

The redesigned portal delivers a modern, intuitive, and efficient experience tailored to partner organizations. Information architecture was restructured to prioritize clarity, while new tools reduced friction and manual effort across workflows.
